We Need your
Ideas on How to
Limit TV and Screen
Time
The current
assessment is that
many children are
spending seven hours
a day looking at a
screen – TV,
computers, video
games, cell phones,
etc.
-
If your children
complain when
you limit their
screen time, how
do you handle
that?
-
What do you say
to them?
-
Remember,
different
techniques work
at different
ages and with
different
temperaments.
-
Parents need
lots of options
to try, so
please share
yours.

you answers to

We thank you, and
the many parents who
need the list will
thank you.
When we compile all
of your responses we
will make the list
available on
overindulgence.info.

Pay for Chores?
by Jean Illsley
Clarke
“Chores are just

an allowance but
they need to learn
that money isn’t
free. They have to
earn it.” Barbara
acquiesced
reluctantly, but
only when Ken agreed
to be totally in
charge of the
payment arrangements

Less pampering will help our kids
by Jill Marchione Papangelis
VAIL, Colorado — My mother cut my meat for me. Until I was a
teenager. That should give some hint of insight into the
kind of mother I became.
I have four kids and when they were little, I actually
peeled their grapes if they didn't like the skin. I would
literally stand there at the kitchen counter, take my paring
knife to the lovely, fragile grape, and delicately tear back
the skin as if I were performing a circumcision. My kids
were home-schooled for many years, so I was also their short
order cook — I took four different orders for breakfast,
happily preparing four different feasts. ..
